CHRIST IS SALVATION

‘Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people.’’ Selah.
Psalm 3:8 (NKJV)

Salvation, which is mostly attached to the scriptures and used as a spiritual term means deliverance. It is a gift from the Lord that comes as a result of mercy. Salvation which comes from the Lord can be said to be the greatest gift of God to man. We may ask that how can this be? It is because since man fell in the Garden of Eden, man has come under the bondage of the law of sin and death. Death came into the world and the life of man, and man became weak, having lost the original status and natural abilities that God created man with in the beginning before the fall, which came as a result of disobedience to God’s instructions. And the people of the earth learnt another way which alien to the way of goodness is that God created man with, that is, the way of an oppressor. Men learnt how to put other men like themselves into forceful subjugation, and afterwards, ‘‘bondage and liberty’’ became a known doctrine in the earth especially to those who have become wise by the reason of their exposure to both life experiences. So, because of bondage and oppression that has come in to the earth, there will always be need for salvation in the earth. In our life’s sojourn, we may need some freedom and deliverance in some aspects of our lives. When freedom comes, peace comes; when freedom comes, a season of refreshment comes as well. It is when we are delivered from oppression that it can be said that we have seen salvation; for example, a close observation of the book of Psalm sees where David and other Psalmists talk or pray for the salvation of God to deliver them from oppressions. And when God answers the prayers of those who call for deliverance, the resulting reaction will be like those who say in Psalm 126 that, ‘‘when the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream.’’ This is because when salvation appears, laughter and goodness also appears.

The whole scriptures from Genesis to Revelation is all about salvation, that is, the salvation of men. When we look at the salvation of men, then we are looking at God’s ultimate plan or program for men. Since the Old Testament cannot deliver men from sins, there is need for another testament called the New Testament of Jesus Christ in which lies the salvation of all mankind, (Hebrews 10:4-10). The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is salvation because it is in the Gospel that men are given the gift of eternal life to overcome the bondage and oppression of death and the power of darkness forever. Therefore, just as Simeon, the devout man who waited for the consolation of Israel was blessed by God that he won’t see death till he had seen Christ testified in Luke 2:30, that his eyes have seen the salvation of the LORD, let it be known to us who are saints of God that Jesus Christ is the salvation of God, who is also the greatest gift of God to man, and that salvation was released by the love and mercy of God to man which can be proved in the release of His only begotten Son Jesus to die for the sins of all men; hence, salvation of the soul can only be found in Jesus Christ. Christ Jesus is the gap between men and God.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved,” (Acts 4:12)
